In the 1960's, Rauschenberg ditched the collage paper with paint look and experimented with screen printing in bright colors. He still used the overlapped for unique layering. There were also a lot more sculptures with mechanical and industrial objects. He tried some performance art like "Pelican" in 1963 which was entirely choreographed. Strangely its one of the only things Rauschenberg did with an ample amount of planning. He showed many political figures and big historical events in his prints. It captured the evolution in the culture of the time. |
